🧭 Overview
StackBatcher is a local desktop application for creating, composing, and running complete application projects.
Combine reusable project and service templates into new stacks, manage configurations and resources, automate repetitive commands with Task Templates, or use the optional AI Project Builder to generate and extend complete project structures.
StackBatcher brings project creation and the running environment together in one workspace: projects can be built and started directly while services, logs, health checks, and Docker resources such as containers, images, volumes, and networks can be managed centrally.
- Compose complete projects from reusable templates
- Combine and configure services and project building blocks
- Save repetitive commands as reusable Task Templates
- Import, duplicate, and export projects as ZIP archives
- Build, start, and update projects or individual services directly
- Inspect logs, health checks, ports, and runtime status
- Manage containers, images, volumes, and networks centrally
- Optionally generate, extend, or repair complete projects with AI
🚀 Highlights
-
Compose Projects from Templates
Use reusable project and service templates as building blocks and combine them into complete stacks instead of recreating common setups from scratch. -
Ready-to-Run Projects
StackBatcher brings services, configurations, environment files, source files, and setup steps together in a project that can be built and started directly. -
Reusable Task Templates
Save frequently used installation, build, update, test, backup, or maintenance commands and run them again at any time on the host or inside a service. -
AI Project Builder
Describe the result you want and let StackBatcher propose complete sets of related project files. Existing projects can be extended, adapted, or repaired with summaries, diffs, and approval of proposed files. -
Build, Run & Inspect
Build and start projects directly from StackBatcher, then inspect services, logs, health checks, ports, and runtime status. -
Docker Resource Management
Manage the underlying Docker environment with centralized views for containers, images, volumes, and networks, including image pull, tagging, registry login, push, and cleanup. -
Open & Portable Projects
StackBatcher works with standard Compose, Dockerfile, environment, source, and documentation files. Your projects remain independently usable and are not locked into a proprietary runtime format.
🤖 AI Project Builder
The optional AI Project Builder works with the actual project context and is designed to generate not just isolated snippets, but complete and connected project files.
- Create complete project structures
- Generate services, configurations, and source files together
- Extend or repair existing projects
- Include build, log, and health context when troubleshooting failures
- Review proposed changes with complete diffs
- Inspect and approve files individually
This allows an idea, template, or existing project to become a complete stack that can then be validated, built, and started directly.
🧩 Templates & Tasks
StackBatcher is designed for repeatable projects and workflows. Once prepared, reusable building blocks can be used again across future stacks.
- Project Templates for complete project foundations
- Service Templates for recurring components
- Task Templates for frequently used commands
- Setup, installation, and initialization workflows
- Build, update, backup, and maintenance tasks
- Project duplication for variants, testing, or new instances
⚙️ Typical Use Cases
- Quickly compose web, API, and service projects
- Combine frontend, backend, database, and additional services into one stack
- Create repeatable development or customer environments from templates
- Manage self-hosted applications and their resources centrally
- Extend existing projects with new services or tasks
- Create complete project foundations with AI and continue working with them directly
🧱 Runtime & Resources
StackBatcher uses Docker Engine and Docker Compose v2 as its runtime and connects your project definition directly with the running environment.
Services can be started, stopped, rebuilt, and updated. Centralized views are also available for containers, images, volumes, and networks, along with logs, health checks, registry functions, and image operations.
The projects themselves remain standard Compose projects and can always be used independently outside of StackBatcher.
StackBatcher is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Docker, Inc.
